Shopping Mall Parking Fees: Legal or Not?

Should you pay parking fees when you go shop in your favorite? Or should shopping mall owners provide free car parks to their customers?

In the Philippines, you have to pay parking fees when you use mall carparks according to a recent decision handed down by the Philippine Supreme Court.

The Office of the Solicitor General apparently argued (in behalf of the car-owning public) that the collection of fees by mall owners is prohibited by the National Building Code but the Supreme Court concluded otherwise. From a Business Mirror report: Continue reading →

He survived the attempt against his life and is currently in the hospital. We sure hope he recovers.

Vicky Belo vs. Argee Guevarra: Facebook Libel Case

Our Pinoy Lawyer of the Day is Atty. Argee Guevarra who is facing a libel case filed by Dr. Vicky Belo. Belo alleges that the good attorney “libeled” her because he was posting anti-Belo malicious messages (such as calling her “Reyna ng Kaplastikan“) on his Facebook page.

CHED Closes Seven Philippine Law Schools

The Commission on Higher Education is closing at least seven law schools across the country for their failure to produce a bar passer for the past 10 years.

The schools are as follows:

  • Abra Valley College in Bangued, Abra
  • Polytechnic College of La Union in Agoo, La Union
  • Ramon Magsaysay Technological University in Iba, Zambales
  • East Central Colleges in San Fernando, Pampanga
  • Southern Bicol College in Masbate
  • Eastern Samar State University in Borongan, Eastern Samar
  • Samar College in Catbalogan, Western Samar
